Confidentiality Policy

Each therapy session is strictly confidential, in line with BACP and UKCP ethical guidelines.

Occasionally, a client’s case may be discussed under supervision with an accredited and qualified supervisor, who is bound by these same confidentiality guidelines.

There are some exceptions arising from a legal obligation to protect people from harm. If during therapy sessions, concerns are raised about the safety of the client or others, these concerns will be discussed with the client in a therapeutic setting before any action is taken.

To maintain confidentiality, the counsellor will not initiate contact with the client in any public or private setting outside of therapy.

Cancellation Policy

Maintaining the commitment to attend therapy sessions is an important part of the therapeutic relationship for both the client and counsellor, and failure to attend sessions will inevitably impact the progress of a client’s treatment.

If clients are unable to attend a session, or wish to change the time or day of their appointment, they are requested to give at least 48 hours’ notice.

Where possible, appointments will be rescheduled for the same week. If clients are unable to attend their appointment in person, a virtual session can be arranged by Skype, Zoom or phone.

Therapy sessions are scheduled in advance at the same time each week and are at a time reserved exclusively for that client. Therefore, when a session is cancelled, the counsellor will be unable to fill this time slot by offering it to another client. For this reason, missed sessions or sessions cancelled within less than 48 hours (outside of pre-planned holiday dates) will still need to be paid for by the client
